We have 7 volunteer judges for the event. More judges will be needed.Melissa contacted Jimmy Winkelman, the young entrepreneur that owns South Butt. No response has been received yet about him attending the morning portion of the program. $200 in prize money has been received! Dr. Cummiskey will be invited to visit the Dream Workshop, along with someone in the Business Department. In an effort to expand the workshop to other schools, we will look at other ways to share that information with teachers and have our current champion teacher talk to her peers about the program. We also need to get a tape measure into the supplies for the workshop because we forgot one in the spring. The SBTDC has agreed to pick up the cost of lunch again for all the students and volunteers. Sam Brown agreed to help judge and asked for an example evaluation form. Doing a more formal evaluation of the kids is something that should be attempted as well. Parental consent forms must go out to the parents in order for this to occur. | |||

Who We Are and What We Do
Our mission is to create a sustainable system that encourages the development and growth of entrepreneurs through training, coaching, and building relationships.
What we do:
Buy Local Campaign - in partnership with JCGDA. Our role is to encourage citizens of Jefferson County to shop in the county and help plan and evaluate the campaign.
Dream Workshop - We are the lead organization on this project, but we work with the City of Hillsboro, Hillsboro High School, and the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce. The workshop is designed to encourage students to explore entrepreneurship as a career path through a day long workshop and simulation.
DeSoto Farmer's Market - in partnership with Get Healthy DeSoto. Our role is to serve as support for the agriculture entrepreneurs that sell at the farmers' market, provide training and assistance with marketing products and proper procedures for selling at a market, and also provide some marketing assistance to the market itself.
Ace Team Program - We are the lead organization on this project but are working towards shifting to another community partner. This project is designed to support local entrepreneurs through a two-part process: peer learning and individual coaching. The pilot project involving six local businesses and six volunteer business coaches will be completed at the end of November.
